Effective July 24, 2009, the minimum wage rate in Pennsylvania is $7.25 per hour for all employers. Effective July 1, 2007 and before July 24, 2009, the minimum wage rate in Pennsylvania is $7.15 per hour (effective July 1, 2008, for employers with ten or fewer employees; effective July 1, 2007 and before July 1, 2008, the minimum wage rate for employers with ten or fewer employees is $6.65 per hour).
All employees are covered by Pennsylvania's minimum wage and overtime law, except the following:
- farm laborers;
- domestic servants;
- persons delivering newspapers to consumers;
- certain newspaper employees;
- executives, professionals, administrators and outside salespersons;
- volunteer educational, religious or charitable workers;
- certain seasonal employees;
- employees in certain amusement or recreational establishments;
- golf caddies;
- telephone company switchboard operators; and
- employees not subject to civil service laws elective office holders, their staff members or advisors.
