In Connecticut, a personal income tax is imposed on the Connecticut taxable income of each individual. Therefore, if you are operating your business as an S corporation, partnership, limited liability company, or sole proprietorship, you will be subject to a personal income tax on your business income that passes through to you.

The tax is imposed at a rate of 3 percent on the first $10,000 for singles and marrieds filing separately, the first $16,000 for heads of households, and the first $20,000 for marrieds filing jointly and for those filing as a surviving spouse. Income above these amounts is taxed at a rate of 5 percent.
