Personal Income Tax in Kansas

If you are a resident or nonresident of Kansas and receive taxable income individually from property owned or business transacted in Kansas, you are subject to tax on net income. Therefore, if you are operating your business as an S corporation, partnership, limited liability company, or sole proprietorship, you will be subject to a personal income tax on your business income that passes through to you.

The following rates are applicable to the amount of income over the exempted amount:

Married Individuals Filing Joint Returns
Taxable Income Amount of Tax
Not over $30,000 3.5% of taxable income
Over $30,000, but not over $60,000 $1,050 plus 6.25% of excess over $30,000
Over $60,000 $2,925 plus 6.45% of excess over $60,000

All Other Individuals
Taxable Income Amount of Tax
Not over $15,000 3.5% of taxable income
Over $15,000, but not over $30,000 $525 plus 6.25% of excess over $15,000
Over $30,000 $1,462.50 plus 6.45% of excess over $30,000
