If you're going to operate your business in North Carolina, you may incur some initial start up costs and annual fees depending on the type of entity you use to operate your business. The following is a partial list of fees that you can expect to pay in North Carolina:

Type of Document to Be Filed Fee
Articles of incorporation: domestic corporation $125
Articles of amendment (domestic) $50
Articles of dissolution $30
Certificate of authority: foreign corporation $250
Amended certificate of authority $75
Certificate of withdrawal $25
Articles of merger or share exchange (domestic and foreign corporations) $50
Limited liability company (foreign or domestic): articles of organization $125
Limited liability company: annual report $200

North Carolina also requires that you obtain a business license and pay a licensing fee based on the nature of your business. For this reason, we recommend that you check with the state to make sure you are complying with the licensing requirements, if there are any, for your particular business.
